This weekend we finally stayed in London and boy was it action packed. We started out with our respective company drinks, arriving home in the late hours of Friday night/early hours of Saturday. After sleeping in we rushed to meet Christie at Mile End tube stop to go watch our friend John play in his football final at the Leyton Orient. Kick-off was at 11, and we arrived just in time. The next 90 minutes were a nailbiting affair, ending in a penalty shoot out where John's team...lost. It was too bad, but they played fabulously and should be very happy with silver. Plus we added a new British phrase to our repitoir: Having the Hump...which apparently means being angry or frustrated...we will have to be careful of our audience when using this phrase as I think our North American friends will think it means something else.
From there we headed out to our new flat in Greenwich to show Christie. We'd never travelled there by car so it was an interesting drive through the Blackwall tunnel. We couldnt believe how much progress has been made:
And then it was off to Blackheath for a pub lunch in the sunshine (the first day of sunshine I think we've had all month...and the last as it turns out). Blackheath is fantastic, reminded me of Hampstead Heath, and Scott checked today...it's only 15 min bus ride from our new flat!! YAY!
Last night we welcomed the new bunch of secondees to London at Revolution, the vodka bar on Clapham High Street: http://www.revolution-bars.co.uk/bars/?bar_id=126
This bar/club is crazy busy by 10pm and Scott was well on his way when someone bought him a vodka red bull...needless to say, after more drinks than necessary, followed by a post drinking curry, we are feeling a bit delicate today. Good times in London.
